April Brings a exciting new things!

Well the day started with a wonderful visit to an amazing photo exhibition where CB was exhibiting 4 blinding framed photos, of which not only did she win a prize with rosette, but also received a request to buy one of her stunning pictures...David Bailey eat your heart out!

We started with a wee bit of show and tell.....

CD has busy with her Japanese folded flowers,  quilt of "many shirts!" and her log cabin bags

HW who was so impressed by the parliament of owls, decided to make her own , a "new government" of owls? The purple party? and to the side..the other parties are waiting in the wings......

We were served with a beautiful meal of salmon quiche and salad and homemade bread, from the world renowned kitchens of CD &SB followed by strawberries and cream/vanilla yoghurt.

Also we went global, we spoke to our lovely EL and she did a lovely show and tell Florida style!

We then celebrated HW's birthday, with a slight Bee theme I think
CB made a fabulous chocolate birthday cake, and all the candles got blown out by HW, and hoping her birthday wish comes true, more quilting...perhaps....

And so to await the excitement of our next meeting!

Mad as a March Hare!

We all got together on the 28th March to celebrate cutting up bits of fabric and sewing them together, making strange knots out of pretty coloured wool and other wild creative and innovative things....hmmmm

We also celebrated a birthday and found our friend on the other side of the pond, doing show and tell!

HW was otherwise engaged in an un-bee-liveable day of sharing the delights of beekeeping.

So what did we get up to I hear you ask....

CD was working on the beautiful caramel and blue table runner, that she was making for fund raising.

Wonderful mellow colours, amazing! CD has such a good eye for beautiful colours

Ideas for charm squares!

CB was creating more wonderful sparkly pretty Stilettos for fund raising, in a wide variety of stunning colours using found beads, that people had donated to various charity shops.

A rainbow of colours and lots of different uses...!

CB was also working on this blanket of sea themed blues...wow!
HT was working on wedding bunting

An array of pink and champagne.....Lucky Bride!
AB Continues with her art work entitled "work in progress"

Then we all stopped for a lovely lunch of Minted Pea Soup with a selection of wonderful mixed breads followed by a lovely dessert.

Then we sang Happy Birthday to CD, the girlie of the moment, sharing it with cake and pressies  with the delectable EL in "Cold only 23 degrees" Florida!

Lovely Pressies for a lovely girl and the sun all the way from Florida, with Love!

And modelling her gorgeous, green Mary Jane slippers gift.....

And so we eagerly look forward to our next get together and another productive day!

Made in February.....

The very last day of February for our monthly meeting, who can believe it's March tomorrow..... a very productive day for all the QQ, with belated birthday wishes and face time with the USA!

Starting the day, as we always do with Show and Tell - CD being very productive....  Not one but two Christmas Wreaths - both completely different but both wonderful...

A Parliament of Owls......for the fund raising pile at QoS.  These should 'fly' off the table....

Morning activities saw a whole host of projects under way....

Joining the north country quilt from the Lilian Headley course for HW - five strips completed - with perhaps two or four more needed.

Another stripe for CD from the same course.....

Some crochet practice for AB.....

Bunting calculations for HS.... 10", 8" or 6".......

And Quilting Stilettos for the fund raising pile for QoS from CB.....

Lunch was a whole group effort this week.....pumpkin and chorizo soup (a successful alteration of this recipe - no sweet potato but a massive pumpkin in stead!), home made bread, fruit tarts (comic relief style and a surprise ingredient for the maker) and home made birthday cake for afternoon tea.

After a good catchup with our missing USA QQ, gift giving and the blowing out of candles .... can you guess the birthday girls favourite colour???

The afternoon was equally productive....

Bunting size decided on, design decided on - cutting - in large volumes commenced.....

Five strips connected on the front - looking stunning....

More fund raising items for QoS - brooches and gift tags.....

And even Tunisian crochet..... didn't get an image of that one  #failedagain!

Another great day.... another productive day - and not long till the next one!

January: Here we are again!

It felt good to be getting back together for another Quirky Saturday...

As always there were lots of projects in various stages of progress....

CB needed to get the binding on this motocross quilt....surely this was possible in one day?

CD was rapidly converting these strips from old shirts into a strippy quilt....( I do hope she asked him indoors permission before she started chopping up his old shirts!)

AB continued to quilt a Christmas quilt, determined to have this finished for next year!

HT pushed on with adding cup cakes to a quilt fora granddaughter that has already grown out of the hungry caterpillar....

And HW made steady progress on another panel of her north country strippy quilt...

We were all so busy we barely noticed the time fly by...and were suddenly SOOOOO hungry that we fell on the soup and (possibly the best looking loaf of bread EVER) like we hadn't eaten fora week. Certainly no time for photographs before we tucked in!

Look!  5 a day in action!!!

The afternoon brought a welcome face-time chat with EL who has been quilting to the sight of dolphins and amazing sunsets and had a crochet scarf blocking on a towel on the balcony in the Florida sunshine!  We Soooooo need to win the lottery and join her for a week!

There was an afternoon Ta-dah"I've nearly finished from CD...

and much admiring of CB's finished wholecloth quilt.. .although the general consensus was that she should paint the wall red to help the red stitching stand out even more than it already does.

All in all it was a lovely chatty, productive day...does anyone mind if I just relax here, read these magazines and finish the flapjacks?
