July: The British Seaside

A complete change of venue for this meeting - a swift drive down the motorway we headed out early to the seaside to visit EL, to not only do a bit of sewing, but to celebrate a belated 'big' birthday. 

On arrival, the view was amazing - with the hot weather, the sky was blue, the water blue and the beach was filling up quickly.

 

 

 

In exploring the seaside town, we found a vintage car show. 

 

 

We missed out celebrating EL 20th birthday last October (I know the balloons and paper say otherwise but yes she was only 20!).  So a decision taken a while back was to spoil her while visiting the UK. I think we just about pulled it off!

 

 

And we still managed to get some sewing done. A quick show and tell...

It's always good to catch up with old friends! However, we always miss absent friends.

June: Friends Reunited

A wonderful get together this month. Two members enjoying themselves in sunnier climates, while the rest of us enjoyed good company, good food and great projects. It was also the first 'in the flesh' meeting for a good number of months for our travelling friend. It did feel a little odd not to be face timing in the afternoon!

Strips by EL. Interesting strips being made for weaving. Very fiddly but I'm sure will be well worth it. 

 

HT was mending the grandchildren's tepee, a wonderful colourful tepee - which I failed to photograph - oops!

Food is always high on the list of activities during the day, and a wonderful lunch by HT

Chocolates from around the world provided by EL, yum yum.

Tea and coffee on tap with home made flapjacks. Yum, yum!

And then a massive show and tell by CD. So creative, sooooo productive!

 

 

 

 

Good to catch up and looking forward to the next meeting, where some of us will be taking a Road Trip!

May: Our Own In House Workshop

For the first time this year, we have five members 'in the house'. Taking advantage of this, we decided to hold our very own mini workshop, trying our hand at Fabric Bins, sent over by EL.

Love the fact we all feel at home when we meet ...... luckily for me the girls didn't see the state of the sewing room yesterday - much worse than the living room today!

Lunch was a good. With late birthday celebrations for HT. The celebrations was completed with gifts and cake - yum yum.

Ta Dah!

Next month, we have our missing friend, sadly not a full house though!

April: Sunshine and Cake

Nearly a full house, with HT visiting family and EL packing for her return journey (to the UK yay), we enjoyed a full day of crafting with catch up on recent events and the state of potholes....... yeh I know - we know how to live!  With two birthdays to celebrate we also had cake and gifts - somehow I managed to miss getting images of both of these - good job I'm not a photographer otherwise I'd be sacked ........

Lunch is always such a wonderful affair at our gatherings - and today was not a disappointment, a picture was even taken before the plate was empty!

HW continued on with her hexagon quilt - amazing progress being made, and stunning detail with such little piece.

 

Another small baby blanket for CB, 18" by 22" but a great way to see what works, how quick they hook up and colour combinations.

A great moment for AB, casting off the blanket. An early decision made on the discovery that the blanket would perhaps only be suitable for an apron given that the bottom is twice the size of the top. A great colour combination and a great starting project.

CD had two projects on the go today, hand sewing applique - a UFO from a few years ago.

And a girly version of the T-Shirt Project Linus Quilt - how sweet are these little dresses.....
