November ....... Tea and Cake

Nearly a full house for this meeting - nearly but not quite - missing one important member - Taggy. She had a much better offer!!!!

It has been some time since we have all been together at a QQ meeting - in fact I'd have to look back on the blog last time we ALL made the same meeting - it has just been one of those years!!

We are all working hard - trying to meet deadlines - mainly Christmas!

EL - working hard on projects of old.... it's good to see E had UFO's before she joined the group! It good to know we haven't past on our bad habits to her in the short time we have known her!!  Maybe that's why she fits in so well with the group - because she already has her own pile of UFO's!!

[CB to add Missing photo]

HW - binding the two Christmas quilts for little nephews - to be wrapped with dinosaur books - such wonderful and imaginative gifts!

CD - finishing the hand quilting on her hand dyed quilts - will easily be finished before year end!

AB - making very good progress with her bag - for herself. And the start of a pastel quilt for her Mum's 80th (there A - I've written it so therefore its true - deadline to meet!!!).

CB - progressing slowly with pink quilt - part two.  Deadline of Christmas  - but third quilt still to complete so really a deadline of end of November!  Finger out Mrs B!

And of course Cake, well I'm not sure it would be a proper QQ meeting now without cake!  But this week an extra special one as CB and EL were celebrating birthdays - EL two weeks ago and CB in one week.  Honey Cake - made with honey produced by HW own bee's no less!!!

September sunshine....

This month we decided to take advantage of some September sunshine and meet again in CD's garden.  Of course being quilters, and because a day of strenuous sewing and quilting stretched ahead of us we started with tea and honey cake...

CD was clearly feeling the full inspiration of the garden and was appliqueing leaves galore from gorgeous batik fabric...

EL was on a mission to finish some Roman headbands for the dressing up box at Fulham Palace...

AB was experimenting with applique samples and HW was nose to the grindstone to try to get an old UFO closer to finished...

There was good food (so good we'd eaten it before the camera came out again) and Great conversation...

And before the end of the day CD had some extra sunflowers in her garden...

If only we all got so close to finishing something every time we met!

21st July: Chelsea Flower Show - Part Two

We had booked this weekend for our Project Linus Weekend - a whole weekend - Friday night until Sunday afternoon - a weekend full of quilting, chat, food and drink and most of all excellent company.  But of course that was cancelled back in June when CD had her minor water problem down at the BH! We have turned it into a one day event at CD's again.  We had all decided a few weeks back that we would all use the time to finish existing quilts/projects rather than start new ones - giving Project Linus a miss this year.

Saturday came, along with the wonderful sunshine (we have been so very luckily weather wise when we have met at CD's - allowing us to make the most of the outdoor space she has). As soon as we reached CD's, tea and a blueberry muffin (made by HW) was consumed and then a trip round the garden - amazing what a difference a few weeks makes.

Visitors on the pond....

Wonderful bunting left from the street party.....

Lunch was amazing, as usual - Salmon Quiche - always such amazing food when we visit CD's.

Projects we are all working on....
Pink Part One: CB free motion around hearts

And boarder work.

Finished work from HT - See we do finish sometimes!!

Finishing the boarder for the Scrappy Zappy Do Quilt.

HW : Boarders on the most amazing hand applique quilt

CD : Hand Dyed Quilt - Hand Quilting.

We also has a wonderful display of finished projects from CD - she is so very good at finishing things - such wonderful things!!

And another day finished - already looking forward to the next one!

Five go wild at Sandown

What better way to spend the day.....loooking at other people's quilts - ooohhhhing and arrrhing - being inspired, wishing, dreaming and making amendments to that 'to do list'.  A whole day for us at Sandown.

A selections of the one's we loved.....

After all those quilts - and believe me this is a tiny selection ....we were relieved for the opportunity to sit down and make a simple fabric flower.....although it wasn't quite as easy as it might have been...and even with written instructions it might be a while till this one gets finished at home....

And it may be even longer till we have a basket of goodies to rival teacher's.....

A great day, with great company ...and I've discovered one other quilter with the same retirement plan as us!!
