May 16th 2015

May saw us meeting at CB's, with a variety of projects.

Bunting was once again in evidence, this time with a bee theme. HW (Epsom Beekeepers Association member) is making it for an event taking place at the Ewell Apiary on 11th July 2015, the same date as the Ewell Village Fair.

CB started work on a challenge block for another Group of which several of us are also members, Quilters of Sutton. The challenge is to make a block using black, white and one colour, CB chose orange.

HT had decided to finish off her Jennie Rayment workshop sampler. She has made it to match a double bed quilt, so is planning to hang it in the bedroom. It is looking lovely with the addition of lace.

AB continues to practice her crochet and is showing improvement.

CD was getting some homework done for a new project at evening classes. This small quilt has some bias folds for folding and stitching to give curved stars. Turquoise on a cream background.

Lunch was eaten outside in the garden, as it was a glorious spring day. Salmon salad and home-made bread, with an Eton mess style desert.

Yum, we do eat well on QQ Saturdays
There was a little bit of honey tasting. AB had brought back some Sweet chestnut honey from her French trip. Nice flavour, not as sweet as HW's own, or so I thought.

For the  fourth month in a row, we also celebrated a birthday, with lots of presents and a cake, home-made of course This time it was HT's turn to make a wish and blow out the candles, we were kind to her, there were only two.

Presents, some hand-made

There was no face-time with EL in Florida this month, she had managed to triple book appointments!

Lastly, show and tell from CD with two finished projects from evening classes.

How about this for a safe place to keep your scissors? It does not, necessarily, make finding them when you need them any easier.

April Brings a exciting new things!

Well the day started with a wonderful visit to an amazing photo exhibition where CB was exhibiting 4 blinding framed photos, of which not only did she win a prize with rosette, but also received a request to buy one of her stunning pictures...David Bailey eat your heart out!

We started with a wee bit of show and tell.....

CD has busy with her Japanese folded flowers,  quilt of "many shirts!" and her log cabin bags

HW who was so impressed by the parliament of owls, decided to make her own , a "new government" of owls? The purple party? and to the side..the other parties are waiting in the wings......

We were served with a beautiful meal of salmon quiche and salad and homemade bread, from the world renowned kitchens of CD &SB followed by strawberries and cream/vanilla yoghurt.

Also we went global, we spoke to our lovely EL and she did a lovely show and tell Florida style!

We then celebrated HW's birthday, with a slight Bee theme I think
CB made a fabulous chocolate birthday cake, and all the candles got blown out by HW, and hoping her birthday wish comes true, more quilting...perhaps....

And so to await the excitement of our next meeting!
