28 April 2012 - A wet and humorous Fulham Day Handquilting

The Quirkies gathered and Helen's to drive northward up the A3 past Kingston, into Fulham to meet at Ellen's house for the first time.  It was a smooth journey only running into traffic at Putney High Street and Lille Road Recreation Ground where the Moscow State Circus is performing in heavy rain!

All had handwork with a number of self-confessed UFOs and a couple of charity projects.  Note Helen's glamorous gel-polished nails below - we were all jealous of her new look.

As we stitched, the birds sang (despite the rain) and we were keen to update on Helen's beekeeping course.  She has now ordered the bees, has a flat pack hive in her garage and regaled us with pictures of her in her beekeeping suit covered in bees (ummmm). Helen plans a bee blog which we all eagerly await.

Bees seemed to be the theme of the day . . . and Ellen got a bit carried away playing a CD by the BlackDown Voices complete with bee buzzing set to music!

Lunch on a wet day was Angela Hartnett's Pea and Mint Soup along with warm Twenty-First Century Cheese, Ham and Chive Break (Lorraine Pascale).

Followed by a lovely trifle from Carole (delicious liqueur at the bottom) and birthday cake to celebrate the April birthday girls - Christine, Helen and Taggy who was out with her family and sorely missed.

Work carried on after the celebrations with Carole teaching Ellen how to blog and Christine lending a sewing machine to new quilter Ellen for "trials" before taking the plunge and buying her own.

Ending the day on an upbeat note, Christine shared two recently completed projects, to the delight of us all.

Thank you all for a wonderful day!
